Live From Del Mar...

Blogging live from Del Mar... kind of makes me feel like Anderson Cooper here, I wish :)

But I just finished a presentation on the "Style Stage" at the
Head to Toe Women's EXPO in Del Mar with our instructor Marcy Morrison (that's us in the photo above presenting and then me blogging!)

We talked about "Finding Your Dream Job" and it was such a treat to share my own experience from jobs in Washington DC, Los Angeles, with governments all over the country and now launching Friends With Class.

There were so many great questions -- this is such a tough time right now for people looking to find their Dream Job, but we had one woman show up to share her success story following the tips Marcy laid out in her book. (that's her below!)

We had people sign up for our next "Career Class - May 11th" on the spot and share tips among themselves.

Gotta go now because the next presentation is starting, I just met author Tedde McMillen and want to hear all about her "Million Dollar Cup of Tea" -- another great success story!

THE TIP: Get out there and network, listen to other people's struggles, success stories and get inspiration from those going through the same situation as you. I learned so much from the questions audience members asked us. Thanks everyone who came out!!

Twitter Class Was Terrific!

We had such a great class on Saturday, March 28th for a Twitter class led by http://twitter.com/searchguru who presented so much terrific information and gave us all a detailed overview of this fascinating medium.

THANK YOU to San Diego's top PR firm, Katz & Associates, for hosting this class. It was great to learn from an SEO expert alongside PR professionals, a Corporate Communications Director for a national technology firm, a mompreneur, small business owner...

Some in the class were already taking off on Twitter and others had barely heard of what it was! But everyone had positive things to say about our instructor and the class:

"Great instruction, handouts, presentation. I learned so much. Anita is a fantastic teacher on social media. She's knowledgeable and a lot of fun too!" Sandra

"I liked everything about this class -- it was very informative and I loved the class size!" Dani

We will definitely be doing another class soon... stay tuned for a date and location (we have requests for La Jolla on a Saturday or Rancho Bernardo on a weeknight....)

THE TIP: I finally GET Twitter now... it is like a huge, cyber cocktail party with some pretty amazing people. And the real power is not just in tyhe numbers (8 million) or the sheer simplicity, but in the power that all of the Twitter-apps provide you....

I had a big "OHHH" moment as Anita covered TweetDeck, HootSuite, Tagalus, Ping.fm ... etc etc etc

**Be sure to follow us at @FriendsWClass - Tweet you soon!

Welcoming a New Baby Boy!

Congratulations Yoly and Brian on the arrival of the adorable Ethan Benicio born at 7:29 am on Sunday - 5 lbs 14 oz.

Mom is recovering nicely and Dad is absolutely BEAMING. So are Ethan's little cousins ;)

National Mom's Night Out - May 7th!

Join us Thursday, May 7th 6:00-8 pm as Friends With Class and SanDiegoBargainMama.com celebrate the first ever National Mom’s Nite Out!

The event will be held at Facelogic Spa in Encinitas (208 N. El Camino Real, Suite C) and is FREE! We will be holding an Accessories Swap and enjoying entertainment, refreshments and some fun Mom time to celebrate this great idea.

I'm going to be getting a facial that night, and anyone else that wants to do one just call Facelogic and you can get $10 off of any facial! Their tel is (760) 840-3223 (FACE) and you can read more about this great spa and its FABULOUS owner on a March blog post.

For the Accessories Swap just bring three or more accessories that you want to donate. You will go home with two new accessories from what other people brought and what is left over will be donated to a charity women's group. (See photos from our last Frock Swap, this event will focus on accessories...)

Bring some funky accessories because we will have San Diego's hottest up-and-coming photographer, Rowell, taking free photos where we can do fun poses with some accessory you might never think is your style :)

The "National Mom’s Nite Out" concept is the brainchild and passion of Maria Bailey, internationally known Mom expert and author of “The Ultimate Mom.” Maria is host of Mom Talk Radio, Founder of BlueSuitMom.com, Co-Founder of Newbaby.com and Founder of Mom Select.

THE TIP: If you can't join us in person, you can still be a part of the event through online chats, Skype and Twitter tweet-ups.

As the first nationally organized celebration of motherhood, National MNO will bring together today’s moms, physically and virtually, The National Mom’s Nite Out will unite over 150 social media groups, companies, local playgroups, mommy bloggers and mother social networks in giving moms a well deserved night off. Interesting View of the World

This is a very interesting way to see the world, and a reminder that we have so much to be thankful for.....

It is the Miniature Earth slideshow and shows you what the world would be like if only 100 people livedon it.

What do you think?

THE TIP: You need to travel far from your home, your life, to look back in and better understand what you have.

Gaby's time in South Africa and Tunesia -- and Steve's summers in Indonesia and Panama helped us see how blessed we are. And while we try to improve other's lives with things like shelter and clean water they continue to bless us with examples of true selflesness, hospitality, wisdom and love.
